If it has been about a year, we take a small bitewing X-ray series with low-radiation digital sensors. Adults at low cavity risk only need bitewings once a year — we do not take X-rays you do not need.

Step 2: Scaling, polishing, fluoride

The hygienist scales away plaque and tartar, both above and below the gumline, then polishes the surface to lift stain. Fluoride is offered after polish — we will tell you whether you actually need it for your specific cavity-risk profile, instead of charging everyone for it as a default.

Step 3: Doctor exam with Dr. Peterson

Dr. David Peterson does the exam himself at the end of every cleaning. He looks for new decay, checks for soft-tissue concerns, and tells you what he sees in plain English.
